Weather forecasts for managing a coking plant's stack emissions
Air quality management Synergetics novel approach to managing air quality issues helped to provide an innovative solution to the stack emissions from a coking plant.

The EPA discharge license for this plant required that emissions be reduced during events of westerly winds to prevent pollution dispersion onto nearby residents.

Synergetics started by modelling pollution dispersion around the plant to identify meteorological conditions associated with worst-case outcomes. Synergetics provided the plant managers with a punctual extended wind and weather forecast daily, which has significantly assisted them in planning operations and increased efficiency.
