Enviromet Synergetics Partner

EnviroMet

Enviromet has had extensive experience in establishing and operating meteorological monitoring stations and collecting and analysing the recordings. Applications have included monitoring for wind energy, and for dispersion of gases from mining and industrial processing, and of odour from wastewater treatment plants, landfills, feedlots, piggeries and poultry farms. Overall, Environet has installed more than 300 meteorological stations in all states of Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, India, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Philippines South Korea, Tonga and Vanuatu. Approximately 250 stations have been for wind prospecting and 150 of these have been on towers between 40 m and 80 m high. A variety of sensors and data loggers has been deployed on guyed lattice and tubular towers and self-supporting masts.

Enviromet has also measured vertical soundings (more than 1,500) of temperature, wind speed and direction for some 20 projects in five states and territories of Australia as well as in Papua New Guinea and India. Nocturnal surface inversion and wind characteristics have been measured to dimension stacks for aluminium and nickel smelters, gas and steel plants, power stations, vehicular tunnels, a pulp mill, a uranium mine and plant, and for assessments of photochemical smog formation in Melbourne and Sydney for state EPAs, as well as heat island effects and sound propagation.
